I'm confused by the variety, please reveal all! Polyskin 3 This is the thinnest type and is potentially a bit fragile, and will shed if not handled gently, but it is incredibly undetectable, even at the front edge with a brushed back style. It can last for months with awareness and very careful handling. Many colors available (see below). Maximum density 150%. This skin is incredibly only 4 to 5 MIL thick (1 MIL = 1/1000 inch) This skin is sold in salons as "Bio-skin" and "Next Generation" and various other names. It is so thin that only U-loops can be used. It's too thin for knots or injection. This skin naturally sticks to your scalp, but adhesive should be used. We do not recommend you use tape on this very thin material, just a dab of glue around the perimeter is better. However, in 2007 a new, thinner injected skin became available which would be a longer lasting choice. Polyskin 2 Thinner and less detectable than all other skins except for polyskin 3. It is robust and can last for a very long time with careful maintenance. Many colors available. Maximum density 150%. This skin is 7 to 8 MIL thick (1 MIL = 1/1000 inch). You can use No Residue tape on this material and have a really easy time with your maintenance. However, in 2007 a new, thinner injected skin became available which would be a longer lasting choice. Injected Polyskin New information for 2007. We can now have this base made thinner than ever, so for the first time we can be comfortable saying the front hairline will look good on an injected unit. Injected polyskin is actually a double layer material with the hair ends anchored between two coats of polyurethane membrane that is built from liquid polyurethane. Maximum density 100% with single hair injection. This skin can now be as little as 5 MIL thick (1 MIL = 1/1000 inch), depending on density requirements. This skin is often used for orders where the client provides tangle-prone virgin hair, because each strand of hair is aligned in the same direction. Looks amazing in a part or when scrutinized from millimeters away, not that anyone ever looks at you that closely! It's important to choose your hair direction carefully because with injected, it's always going to point that way. Upon magnified close inspection, the slight bend at the "root" of each hair can spoil the illusion with this base design. Polyskin 1 (knotted)
This is a thicker polyskin similar to the polyskin of 2004 and earlier. Very strong, but not so great for exposed hairlines. Hair is attached with knotting which can look dotty if viewed very closely. Many colors available. Maximum density 150%. This skin is 18 to 20 MIL thick (1 MIL = 1/1000 inch). Good only as an edge material for back and sides.
