Is there a maximum density for lace fronts or lace bases? PDF Print E-mail
You can have high density on lace but once your density exceeds 80%, we can no longer use all single knots and have enough places to tie the hair. So as the density increases over 80% on a lace base, more and more double knots have to be used. A 100% density lace base will have about one double knot out of five.

Maximum densities for laces are as follows:

French Lace: 150%
Swiss Lace: 120%
Extra Fine Swiss Lace: 100%
