The hair on a lace freestyle unit can be styled in any direction with just a hairbrush. It's like your own hair. You can have a left part one day and have it all straight back the next. Part it anywhere. But a polyskin freestyle base will have a center crown and all the hair will point away from that crown. It will be more like a forward unit, so if you want it to go sideways or back, or stick straight up away from the scalp, then order your polyskin unit that way to start with.
