French lace is the most popular material for hairpieces and wigs. It is quite invisible, but is also strong and long-lasting. Heat and moisture go right through this fine polyester fabric. The more fragile Swiss lace is less detectable but not usually combined with a PWG edge. But this combination is available for traditionalists.

Some users like to have the hairline and top and crown made out of lace, but prefer the properties of poly-with-gauze around the back and side edge. 

This design has an average lifespan of around three months.
